Jalen Milroe allegedly ran a blazing 4.37-second time in his second 40-yard dash attempt during Alabama‘s Pro Day on Wednesday in Tuscaloosa, the team announced. Other NFL scouts reportedly clocked him around 4.4 and 4.5 seconds during his two runs Wednesday.

When told by SEC Network analyst Dusty Dvoracek about his reported times, the dual-threat Crimson Tide quarterback reportedly deadpanned: “I’m slipping a little bit.”

“Best thing about it is when it translates to the field, … but naw, it was good to run the 40 and be out here and run that time,” Milroe told Dvoracek later on the SEC Network.

Milroe’s Pro Day performance certainly opened eyes around the NFL and had people onsite buzzing, according to Dvoracek. For Milroe, it was all part of the plan, especially after electing to not run at the NFL Combine last month in Indianapolis.

“Initially, going to the Combine, all I wanted to do was build relationships with teams, and have that opportunity to be around them, and also showcase my talents throwing the ball,” Milroe said. “Now, coming back to school, going through my script and being able to have a good day running as well, definitely excited just to be back here and showcase all the hard work I’ve been doing in California.”

Milroe has been working with renowned quarterback consultants and former NFL QBs Jordan Palmer and Mike White while out in California to refine his skills in an effort to impress scouts ahead of next month’s 2025 NFL Draft. And by most accounts Wednesday, it was mission accomplished.

“All the hard work in the dark is going to shine at some point, and it’s been so much work I’ve been putting in in California with Jordan Palmer and Mike, and they’ve been real helpful along the way,” Milroe added. “The best thing about it is there’s no shot clock in the offseason, so we’ve had time to grow and be the best version of yourself whenever the opportunity presents itself. During that timeframe, it’s all about getting better and also being around poeple that want me to be great. I have nothing but respect for Jordan and Mike because they put a lot into me.

“All I do is reflect and think about when I first touched campus and being able to watch Mac Jones throw and watch Bryce (Young) go through this process,” Milroe concluded. “And now to fulfill that and place my shoes here, I think it’s a blessing. I see it as a great opportunity and I’m just excited for what’s to come. I don’t take it lightly. … Now it’s the next step in the journey, and one step completed.”
