Jameis Winston hilariously asks DeVonta Smith to eat a W during Super Bowl Opening Night
Jameis Winston the FOX Sports digital correspondent for Super Bowl week is going exactly how you would expect it to go.
Winston, reporting live from Monday’s Super Bowl Opening Night in New Orleans, is asking questions to some of the best players taking part in this Sunday’s Super Bowl LIX matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles. Among those players is Eagles wideout DeVonta Smith.
And Winston wanted to know one thing: “Can I give you a W?”
Smith said yes, and Winston handed him what appeared to be a cookie in the shape of a W. And of course, Winston wanted to make sure he would eat it.

As we know, Winston and eating W’s go hand in hand dating back to his infamous pregame speech in 2017 while quarterbacking for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Winston has never been able to live that one down and now, he’s fully embracing the memes and providing a bit of humor to Super Bowl week.

Winston, 31, will soon to be looking for a new home after spending the 2024 season with the Cleveland Browns. He started seven of 12 games with Cleveland, throwing for 2,121 yards, 13 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in place of injured starter Deshaun Watson. Across his 10-year NFL career, Winston has compiled 24,225 passing yards, 1,297 rushing yards and 166 combined touchdowns.
As for who should sign him during free agency in March, Winston posed the question to Eagles running back Saquon Barkley. Barkley responded: ‘I think New York needs a quarterback right now.” Winston asked, “New York who?” — a fair question to ask when it comes to the Giants and Jets. Barkley meant his former team in the Giants, he told Winston.
The Giants are in search of a quarterback for the future after releasing Daniel Jones midway through the 2024 season. Holding the No. 3 overall pick in April’s NFL Draft, the Giants will likely find that guy with that selection. And of course, they could also sign Winston as Barkley suggested.
