Jameis Winston takes over for Saints after Derek Carr exit, hits Chris Olave for incredible TD
Off to a rough start against the Minnesota Vikings, the New Orleans Saints went on a rollercoaster of a drive in the third quarter. First, they lost quarterback Derek Carr due to a hard hit, then backup quarterback Jameis Winston came in and tossed a touchdown to Chris Olave just two plays later.
The Saints are still alive thanks to Winston’s touchdown completion, but they trail 27-11 following Alvin Kamara’s two-point conversion. Amid New Orleans’ drive into the endzone, Carr went into the team’s blue medical tent for further evaluation. The veteran QB’s head snapped violently as he went to the ground on the tackle by Jaquelin Roy.
Heading into the fourth quarter, the Saints ruled out a return for Carr. They’re evaluating the former Raiders QB for a shoulder injury and a concussion.
Prior to his exit on Sunday, Carr had 110 passing yards on 13-for-18 completions. This season, he has 10 touchdowns with four interceptions as the Saints earned a 5-4 record to start the year.
The touchdown snag was the third of the season for second-year wide receiver Chris Olave. He had two touchdowns with 50 receptions and 563 yards coming into the Week 10 matchup. He leads all Saints receivers through 10 games.

Joshua Dobbs dominating Saints in home debut for Minnesota
The legend of Josh Dobbs is showing no signs of slowing down. In fact, it may just be beginning — that is, in a different city.
Dobbs, making his first home start for the Minnesota Vikings (5-4) in Week 10 against the New Orleans Saints (5-4) Sunday, had a marvelous first half at U.S. Bank Stadium. Dobbs completed 18-of-22 passes for 200 yards and two total touchdowns. He added 40 yards on the ground to go along with a passer rating of 123.5. The Vikings went into the half holding a commanding 24-3 lead over the Saints.
Dobbs, acquired along with a conditional 2024 seventh-round pick from the Arizona Cardinals (1-8) in return for a 2024 sixth-round pick at the trade deadline, has now completed five quarters of football in a Minnesota uniform. The 28-year-old journeyman has been magnificent, racking up 484 yards and five total touchdowns.
And to think, Dobbs not only hasn’t been in the building for two weeks but also needed directions on where to find the Vikings’ locker room after arriving at the stadium Sunday.
