Jason Garrett unloads on Dallas Cowboys after Detroit Lions blowout loss

Jason Garrett had a lot to say about the Dallas Cowboys after the team suffered a blowout loss to the Detroit Lions on Sunday. During the Sunday Night Football broadcast on NBC, the former Cowboys head coach explained the issues going on with the franchise that have led to them losing their last four home games.

“They’re not physical on either side of the ball. On offense, they can’t run it, they’re not controlling the line of scrimmage,” Garrett said. “Everything is on Dak [Prescott], every time the ball is snapped. And they can’t stop the run on the other side.”

On Sunday, the Cowboys lost to the Lions 47-9. In the last four home games, the Cowboys have allowed 448.8 yards and 41.8 points per contest. After the Lions game, Prescott talks about what he’s going to do as the Cowboys head into their bye week.

“Look in the mirror. Look in the mirror,” Prescott said, per the Cowboys’ official website. “Go watch these six games over the bye week. Take a few days off, reset and be ready when we get back into that building Monday to refocus and do every single thing that you can to help this team, and everybody has a role, whatever that role may be, so make sure you understand what it is and it is carved out. And if it’s bigger than what it was a few weeks ago, if it’s smaller, whatever it may be, figure out a way just to be the absolute best in it.

Garrett knows all about what the Cowboys are facing as he was on the team’s coaching staff from 2007 to 2019. During his team in Dallas, Garrett was an offensive coordinator, assistant head coach, interim head coach and head coach. During his nine seasons as the head coach (2011 to 2019), Garrett led the Cowboys to three playoff appearances and three NFC East titles.
