Jason Kelce phone-smashing incident: Penn State police give update on investigation
According to TMZ Sports, Penn State police have still been unable to identify the man involved in the Jason Kelce phone-smashing incident. Kelce has since apologized for the incident. But PSU police haven’t been able to locate the man who started the scuffle with the former NFL star.
Nobody has come forward to police to report their phone being destroyed, according to TMZ.
He apologized for the incident on Monday Night Countdown
A solemn Jason Kelce opened up ESPN‘s “Monday Night Countdown” by issuing an apology for the phone-smashing incident which took place this past Saturday on the campus of Penn State University, ahead of the PSU-Ohio State football game.
“I think everybody’s seen on social media everything that took place this week,” Kelce said. “I’m not happy with everything that took place. I’m not proud of it and in a heated moment, I chose to greet hate with hate, and I just don’t think that that’s a productive thing. I really don’t. I don’t think that it leads to discourse and is the right the way to go about things. In that moment, I fell down to a level that I shouldn’t have.
“Bottom line is, I try to live my life by the Golden Rule. That’s what I’ve always been taught. I try to treat people with common decency and respect, and I’m gonna keep doing that moving forward even though I fell short this week. I’m gonna do that moving forward and continue to do that.”

Jason Kelce slams Penn State fan’s phone after NSFW comment about Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift
Kelce, in Happy Valley for the Penn State-Ohio State football game, was walking around campus when a fan filming him yelled out, “Hey Kelce, how does it feel that your brother [Travis Kelce] is a [homophobic slur] for dating Taylor Swift?” Kelce turned around, grabbed his phone and slammed it on the ground. The former Philadelphia Eagles star center picked up the phone, looked at the man and said, “Who’s the [homophobic slur] now?”
Penn State police were investigating the incident between Kelce and the fan, TMZ reported Monday. Nittany Lions head coach James Franklin addressed the matter Monday.
“I saw something with Jason Kelce. Jason Kelce was coming to State College. I wanted him to have a wonderful experience. I didn’t get a chance to meet him or see him. Saw something that I wasn’t very, very proud of. I wish that didn’t happen,” Franklin said. “But there’s also, in 2024? I love that that person – there was a consequence to his action, you know.”
