Jaxson Dart will play in the Gator Bowl before preparing for the 2025 NFL Draft, he announced Friday. Ole Miss will take on Duke in the bowl game Jan. 2, which will mark his the final game of his college career.

Dart announced his decision in a letter to Rebel Nation on social media, expressing his gratitude after three years in Oxford following his transfer from USC. He thanked the coaching staff, including Lane Kiffin and Charlie Weis Jr., as well as the fan base a whole for welcoming him into the fold.

He also put out a video saying goodbye to Ole Miss as he makes his final preparations for the Gator Bowl. From there, he’ll take his talents to the next level.

“To Rebel Nation – words cannot express the depth of my feelings and emotions in this moment… but “THANK YOU” seems like the right place to start,” Dart wrote. “THANK YOU for the love and support that y’all have showed me at Ole Miss. Who would have known that a kid who grew-up in Utah would find his way to the great state of Mississippi in order to fulfill his college gridiron dreams.

I really and truly came of age at this great University. … All of this being said, we have unfinished business. I CAN’T WAIT to put on that #2 Ole Miss jersey for one last ride with my guys before beginning preparation for the 2025 NFL Draft. As always, I promise to leave every ounce of what I’ve got on that football field one last time for Ole Miss. THANK YOU and Hotty Toddy!”

Jaxson Dart was one of the big transfer portal splashes for Kiffin at Ole Miss, arriving in 2022 after one season at USC. In his three years with the Rebels, he put together a decorated career as he passed Eli Manning for the most passing yards in program history with 10,213 with one game remaining.

Heading into the final game of his college career, Dart has more than 11,000 career yards and 77 touchdowns to his name. He also saved his best season for last, throwing for 3,875 yards and 25 touchdowns during the 2024 regular season. That sets him up for a 4,000-yard season heading into the Gator Bowl against Duke.
