Jayden Daniels injury: Commanders QB has throwing hand super-glued in 2nd half vs. Eagles

After the first drive of the second half, Washington Commanders QB Jayden Daniels received treatment for an apparent injury. Prime Video’s Kaylee Hartung reported he had a cut between his pinky and ring fingers on his throwing hand, and the staff applied a glue to close the wound.

Daniels didn’t miss any time due to the injury, returning for the Commanders’ second drive of the half after a Jake Elliott field goal. He had an up-and-down go in the first half of Thursday night’s matchup, completing 8-of-11 passes for 83 yards and taking two sacks.

The Prime Video broadcast caught the trainers tending to Daniels as the Eagles took the field for their first drive of the second half. Hartung later had more details on the issue and what the staff was doing to help make sure it doesn’t get worse.

“You got a quick look at Jayden Daniels’ hand. It appears he has a cut at the base between the pinky and right throwing hand,” Hartung said. “They were applying a sterile super glue that could quickly close that wound, and now he’s all bundled up.”

Daniels has been impressive to start his rookie season after the Commanders drafted him No. 2 overall out of LSU. He entered Thursday’s game with 2,147 passing yards and nine touchdowns to go with 464 rushing yards and four touchdowns on the ground. However, he also dealt with a rib injury earlier in the year, but didn’t miss a full game due to the ailment.

Daniels’ dual-threat ability presents an interesting challenge for opposing defenses. Add in his hot start to the year, and Eagles coach Nick Sirianni said it wouldn’t be easy to contain the reigning Heisman Trophy winner.

“He’s come out on fire,” Sirianni said, via Pro Football Talk. “He’s got his team playing really well. Hats off to their coaches. You know, I just have a lot of respect for that coaching staff and the players on that team.

“He’s playing really good football. It’s very obvious. I think everybody can see that. A really good player who started off on fire, so we’ll have a challenge here this week. Can’t say enough good things about him. You know, how he’s going to the right place with the football, being accurate, the things he can do when things do break down. I have got a lot of respect for him and we’ll have our hands full.”
