Jayden Daniels injury: Dan Quinn shares new update, status for Bears game
Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels‘ status is up in the air for this coming weekend against the Chicago Bears, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport.
Daniels suffered a rib injury in the win over the Carolina Panthers. Marcus Mariota piloted the ship the rest of the way after the No. 2 overall pick left in the first quarter.
“Commanders QB Jayden Daniels, who left Sunday’s win early because of his ribs, suffered an injury that is not considered to be serious but does require treatment and monitoring throughout the week, sources say,” Rapoport wrote on Twitter. “His status vs. the Bears is up in the air.”
Rapoport provided more, which included head coach Dan Quinn saying Daniels was “week-to-week.”
“Jayden Daniels is officially ‘week-to-week,’ per coach Dan Quinn,” Rapoport wrote on Twitter. “‘We’re hopeful he could play.’ But there are real unknowns and they’ll be cautious. Safe to say, the showdown between Daniels and Caleb Williams is in doubt.”

Even if Daniels was healthy enough to return to the game against Carolina, the Commanders didn’t need him as they beat the Panthers 40-7. The aforementioned Mariota took over for Daniels and threw for 205 yards and two touchdowns. With the win, the Commanders are 5-2 and are in first place in the NFC East.
Daniels has been a big reason the Commanders have a chance to win their first division title since 2020. The former LSU Tigers quarterback has completed 75.3 percent of his passes for 1,404 yards six touchdowns and two interceptions in his first six games this year.
Daniels has also been strong in the running game, tallying 322 rushing yards and four touchdowns (not including totals from the Panthers game).
