Jayden Daniels injury: Mother of rookie QB shares update
Washington Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels suffered an injury in the first quarter of Sunday’s Week 7 game against the Carolina Panthers, and an update has been revealed. Daniels’ mother, Regina, went to social media to post “he’s fine.”
When Daniels left the game, he felt discomfort in his rib area and was evaluated in the team’s medical tent. The former LSU Tigers star was then seen walking to the locker room before slamming his helmet on the sideline.
Before the injury, Daniels completed two passes and rushed for 50 yards on three caries. In his first six games of the year, Daniels has completed 75.3 percent of his passes for 1,404 yards, six touchdowns and two interceptions. The 23-year-old has also been strong in the run game, rushing for 322 yards and four touchdowns.
With Daniels having a strong start to his rookie season, many have speculated that he will win Rookie of the Year and MVP. But Daniels is all about helping his team win each week.

Jayden Daniels is all about winning
“This game is very hard, so you got to appreciate the wins,” Daniels said, per Commanders.com. “Especially in this league, man, they’re hard to come by, so you gotta be able to appreciate the win … I’ve been like this win, lose or draw, 24-hour rule. Go out there, 24 hours, appreciate what happened or…get into your thoughts if you lost or either win or lost. But [you] go out there the next day, man, it’s time to go to work. Move on to the next week.”
Daniels also talked about being too busy working to celebrate individual awards. “Finding little ways to keep growing,” Daniels said. “I wouldn’t say it’s a finished product, but it’s just a start and, I mean, I don’t really look at everything that people talk about. I mean, I see it, but other than that, man, none of that matters. That was last week’s stuff. You’re only as good as the last game you played and everybody going to look at what can you do the week prior and the weeks after that.”
