Washington Commanders (5-2) quarterback Jayden Daniels is active and will start Sunday’s Week 8 home matchup against the Chicago Bears (4-2), per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Daniels’ status had been up in the air all week after he left last Sunday’s game in the first quarter after suffering a rib injury. The Commanders listed him as questionable, allowing him to workout pregame to determine his availability.

Daniels participated in team drills Friday before working on core strength and conditioning. Following practice, Daniels spoke about how he felt with the media.

“I feel good. Treatment all of that. Trying to get that right,” Daniels said. “Give myself a chance to go out there confident to play. Ultimately, the trainers make the decision to let me play. If they feel confident, too. I want to play, but it’s not my decision.”

Jayden Daniels vs. Caleb Williams: Round 1 set for Sunday

With Daniels good to play, Sunday’s game will feature the top two players from this past April’s NFL Draft going head-to-head for the first time. Washington selected Daniels No. 2 overall, one selection after the Bears made Caleb Williams the No. 1 overall pick. Both teams have to feel good about their rookie signal-callers, as both have been impressive thus far this season.

Daniels has thrown for 1,410 yards, six touchdowns and two interceptions on a league-leading 75.6% passing. His 74.0 QBR is third among all quarterbacks. He has also rushed for 372 yards and four scores.
