Jayden-Daniels

Jayden Daniels threw a 9-yard touchdown pass to Jamison Crowder to give the Washington Commanders a 36-33 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. The Commanders are now 10-5 on the year.

It was another signature win for Daniels who continues to make his case for Offensive Rookie of the Year. After being down 27-14 at the start of the fourth quarter, Daniels and Washington outscored the Eagles 22-6. Daniels finished the day with 258 yards, five touchdowns, two interceptions and 81 rushing yards.

The Commanders are now on a three-game winning streak after losing the previous three contests. They are two games behind the Eagles for the NFC East lead and one and a half games ahead of the Seattle Seahawks for the final wild-card playoff spot.

“I mean no matter who we play, who they play, everything starts up front,” Daniels said about the Eagles before the game, per Commanders.com. “They got good football players over there; we got good football players here. So, it’s more so about the will and the want to upfront between everybody and just the whole team. Want to go out there, who wants it more. And the more discipline in the team with the more want to [will] prevail in this game.”

NFL executives love what Jayden Daniels has done this year

The former LSU Tigers star added: “They play hard, they play physical, they play the right way and if we want to win football games or win the close ones, win the big games, you gotta play against some good teams. And Philly’s just on the clock, so hopefully we go out there and compete against them again.”

Before the Eagles game, Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network surveyed league executives, and they determined that Daniels is the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. “The No. 2 overall pick in this year’s draft, Daniels leads all rookies with 3,045 passing yards and a 101.2 passer rating, and he’s tied for second behind Denver’s Bo Nix with 17 touchdown passes. He’s also fourth among all QBs in completion percentage (70.5), the highest by a rookie in the common draft era (since 1967),” Pelissero wrote.

“Along with coach Dan Quinn, a remodeled front office and new ownership, Daniels is a big reason one of the NFL’s most destitute franchises seemingly has been reborn overnight. The Commanders are 9-5 and can wrap up a playoff spot with a win and help this weekend.”
