Jayden Daniels, Malik Nabers share pregame moment ahead of Commanders vs. Giants
Jayden Daniels and Malik Nabers will soon go head-to-head for the first time in the NFL as the New York Giants (2-6) host the Washington Commanders (6-2) in Week 9 on Sunday.
Daniels and Nabers were the most dynamic quarterback-receiver duo in the nation during their time together at LSU, and now find themselves two of the frontrunners for the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year Award. The two, now opponents, met up on the field pregame.
Daniels and Nabers spent two seasons in Baton Rouge, the former winning the Heisman Trophy in 2023. That season, Nabers hauled in 89 receptions for 1,569 yards and 14 touchdowns. Daniels, meanwhile, accounted for 50 touchdowns.
So yeah, they were pretty good. Their success made them top prospects in the 2024 NFL Draft. Daniels went No. 2 to Washington, while the Giants selected Nabers with the sixth overall pick.

Jayden Daniels, Malik Nabers frontrunners for OROY
Entering Week 9, Daniels is second in the league completing 71.8% of his passes for 1,736 passing yards, 11 total touchdowns [seven passing] and 424 yards on the ground. Nabers, who missed two games with a concussion, has reeled in 46 receptions 498 yards and three scores.
On top of now being on opposite sides, they are division rivals. When the game begins, they’ll be no reminiscing about the good ol’ days. Still, Nabers took time to acknowledge what Daniels meant to him at LSU.
“Without him, I probably wouldn’t be here right now, so having that guy as my quarterback, it took a lot of stress off me, so I took a lot of stress off him too getting open,” Nabers said Thursday. “But we’re in a different space right now, but it’s still the same game.”
