Jayden Daniels reacts to Hail Mary game-winning touchdown to Noah Brown
Washington Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels delivered a miracle play Sunday on a Hail Mary heave to win the game against Chicago. Daniels’ pass sailed 50 yards downfield and was tipped by a cluster of Bears defenders before landing in the hands of Noah Brown, who stood behind the crowd in the end zone.
The score allowed the Commanders to escape with an 18-15 win and improve to 6-2, keeping a perfect 4-0 record in their home games. Speaking with CBS’ Tracy Wolfson just moments after the game, Daniels himself was even speechless about what just transpired.
“Nothing but God,” he said. “Without him, I don’t even think I would be playing this week. All glory to God.”
Daniels suffered a rib injury early in last week’s 40-7 win against Carolina and never returned to the game. His status was questionable leading up to this week before he was ultimately cleared to go.
He didn’t show any ill effects as he finished the game 21-of-38 passing for 326 yards in addition to 52 yards rushing. The touchdown throw at the end was his only score all afternoon, but he came through when it counted.

Despite this, Daniels explained that it wasn’t easy getting himself in game shape.
“Lotta long hours, long days,” he said. “But I put myself in a position to go out here. But like I said, nothing but glory to God.”
The No. 2 pick out of LSU in this year’s draft, Daniels has looked like the best quarterback in the class so far. He entered Week 8 leading the league in completion percentage (75.6%) to throw for 1,736 yards passing and six touchdowns to two interceptions, leading all rookies. He also has rushed for 372 yards and another four touchdowns.
All this has led to the Commanders getting off to one of their better starts in recent memory, sitting in first place in the NFC East standings. After years of struggle at the quarterback position, they finally have their guy and it seems there is a very promising future for where he can take them.
“We keep fighting, man,” Daniels said. “We’ve got a great locker room. Great brotherhood. There’s nobody else I’d rather go to war with.”
