Jayron Kearse on fight: Cowboys defense ain't taking s**t from anyone

Dallas Cowboys safety Jayron Kearse issued a stern warning to the rest of the NFL following Wednesday’s practice, in which a scuffle broke out between multiple players.

“We ain’t taking no sh-t from nobody. All 32 teams — we ain’t taking sh-t from nobody,” Kearse said after practice, via the team’s website. “Whether it’s our offense or the next offense. We’re trying to show we’re the best in the business, so it gets spicy out here. It’s gonna get spicy on Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays; whenever we line up, that’s how we’re gonna come.”

What appeared to be a normal play, quickly turned into star edge rusher Micah Parsons and Tyler Biadasz getting into a scuffle. Both Parsons and Biadasz began to push and shove before the former threw a punch at the offensive lineman. Most of those wearing a helmet with a star on the side intervened to stop the situation from escalating any further.

Speaking with the media after practice, Parsons, who received a talking to from quarterback Dak Prescott, explained his side of the incident.

“Hell yeah, I need that,” Parsons said. “I’m here to make them better. I push myself to the greater good… Me pushing myself is only gonna make them better, at the end of the day. I don’t care who I’m up against… Don’t care if it’s Tyron [Smith], if it’s Zack [Martin], if it’s Tyler Smith — I’m gonna beat the hell out of them. 

“It’s only gonna make them better. … This is where championships get started — right here in camp. The goal is to bring that out, and the camaraderie, to bring it all together. It’s only one goal at the end of the day.”

Tensions boil over during Cowboys’ final practice in Oxnard

After weeks of going head-to-head in Oxnard, tensions finally reached a boiling point between the offense and defense, as is bound to happen from time to time. Kearse said it can only bring the best out everyone as the Cowboys march towards their ultimate goal, and that’s winning their first Super Bowl since 1996.

“That’s just how this thing goes,” Kearse said. “When you’re going up against a bunch of dogs on the opposite side, it just brings the best out of you. We’re just trying to continue to work, and bring those guys along. … When you come out here and you go against us, it’s gonna bring out the best in you.

“You’re going against Micah, D-Law, you’re going against Mazi [Smith], Osa [Odighizuwa], you’re going against [Dante] Fowler — you’re going against a lot of dogs. It brings the best out of you. … At the end, we’re gonna stand up all the time.”
