Former Duke star Jayson Tatum is unquestionably one of the best basketball players on the planet. He showed exactly why tonight, delivering clutch plays on both ends of the floor when his Boston Celtics needed him the most against the Cleveland Cavaliers. First, he tied the game up at the end of regulation with a vicious posterization of Jarrett Allen, who was rotating over but was about a step too late.

Check it out as Tatum barrels down the line and sends in an emphatic dunk, while drawing the contact from Allen. There was no foul called on the play, but he wanted one.

That play tied the game up–107-107 with 6.2 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. Tatum was not done yet.

At the other end, he made a clutch block to send the game to overtime. Simply put, plays like those are exactly why he’s one of the biggest superstars in the league today. The Cavaliers prevailed in overtime, 114-113, but it wasn’t without a monster performance from Tatum. He stuffed the stat sheet with 26 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists in the losing effort.

Speaking of posterizations, Tatum sent one in last year over Giannis Antekounmpo.

Last year in the playoffs against the Brooklyn Nets, Tatum delivered an epic buzzer-beater in Game 1 of the series in a hotly contested back and forth matchup. So far in his young NBA career, the former Duke star has been named an NBA All-Star three times (2020, 2021, and 2022). He’s firmly established himself as one of the game’s biggest superstars and look for that to continue for several years.

The Celtics currently sit at 4-2 overall and will look to rebound on Nov. 4 against the Chicago Bulls. Tip-off for that one will be 7:30 PM EST.
