JD Motorsports owner Johnny Davis responds to Hawk Tuah Girl meme controversy

JD Motorsports owner Johnny Davis issued a statement Wednesday after a crew member of its NASCAR Xfinity Series team made a controversial post on the team’s official X account this past weekend.
Robert Dorman, a tire specialist who also handled race weekend social duties, posted a photo of New Hampshire Motor Speedway after qualifying was canceled due to rain. Dorman added the Hawk Tuah Girl meme at the top left of the photo. The meme, featuring a girl being interviewed in Tennessee making reference to a sexual act, went viral last week and Dorman decided to incorporate it into his post.
Davis revoked Dorman’s “privilege of posting racing only content,” though he retains his position as tire specialist. Dorman will be on site at Nashville Superspeedway this Saturday for the Tennessee Lottery 250.
JD Motorports owner says Hawk Tuah Girl post wasn’t according to ‘our standards and beliefs’
“Here at JD Motorsports, our social platforms have to represent and support our partners,” Davis wrote on X. “As a parent who has raised a special needs child, I’ve had to explain many misunderstandings to my child. @RDorman19’s post did garner a lot of attention. As a tire guy who had privileges to post only racing content, this did not meet what Robert was allowed to post. Not that I have to defend my actions to the Nascar community, but how does a parent explain this subject matter to their child who doesn’t understand? I had to react to Robert Dormans’ post according to our standards and beliefs.

“Robert Dorman was not fired from his job as a tire specialist at JD Motorsports. His privilege of posting “racing” only content was revoked! We appreciate a good clean joke or meme as much as anyone, but there are boundaries. Thank you for being a true fan of JD Motorsports.”
Dorman issued the following response to having his posting privileges revoked:
“Well boys, I went out on top,” Dorman wrote.
In a reply to fan, Dorman said, “i’ve been removed from JD socials, didn’t meet “his beliefs” Had to delete it.”
