Jeb Burton is happy with how his NASCAR Xfinity Series season has played out, considering he has yet to win a race. On3 recently spoke to Burton and asked how he would grade himself and his team in the first part of the year.

“I would say a B. Some of the races have got away with us on the last lap,” Jeb Burton told On3. “I was running sixth at Daytona and got wrecked and finished 16th, and then [in Martinsville] I was running ninth on the last lap and got wrecked and finished 11th. So I wish I had those back.

“But I think we’ve done okay. We need to clean up some mistakes and make our cars a little bit better so we can make the playoffs. We’re right on the edge of the playoffs right now, so just can’t have any mistakes.

In the first nine Xfinity Series races, Burton has earned one top-10 finish, which was at Atlanta. He finished outside the top 20 just three times and currently sits 13th in the Xfinity points standings.

Burton also talked about getting him and his No. 27 team to take the next step. “If we win a race, we’ll be locked in the playoffs, but if we don’t make the playoffs and win a race in the playoffs, that would be good too,” Burton said.

Jeb Burton uses Celsius for his ‘pre-workout ritual’

“So I think those are really big goals to do, and if we can achieve those with our little team, it’s a big accomplishment. We’ve got 30 employees, and a lot of the guys we’re racing against have 150 employees, so it’s kind of a little man versus the giant sometimes. And we do a lot with a little, so people like Celsius help us and it helps our program.”

Speaking of Celsius, Jeb Burton has a partnership with the company that helps him stay fit throughout the season. “I use Celsius before my workouts, so that is something that I’ve kind of got a little bit addicted to, is doing that,” Burton said. “It’s kind of like my pre-workout ritual is what I’m using Celsius for. And then also, after races your body’s kind of worn out, and normally I have about a two-hour drive home after we land from the airport, so I use Celsius to kind of keep me going to give me a little bit more energy too in those situations.”

Burton also revealed when the relationship with Celsius began. “To be honest, my first relationship with Celsius, I was at college racing and started to build a relationship with the Celsius team,” he explained. “And then we didn’t do anything for a couple years and then we reconnected about two years ago and had a lot of success on the racetrack and off the racetrack with some different business opportunities, and it’s been a good partnership.”
