Jeff Gordon, Kyle Larson climb into Indianapolis Motor Speedway crowd to celebrate Brickyard 400 win
Jeff Gordon watched proudly as Kyle Larson returned Hendrick Motorsports to Victory Lane during the Brickyard 400, and then the four-time NASCAR Cup Series champion had a little fun celebrating.
During the course of his illustrious career, Gordon won the Brickyard 400 five times, becoming synonymous with the event. Now, in its return to the Cup Series schedule, Larson has added his name to the list of it’s winners, kissing the bricks on Sunday afternoon.
Afterwards, Gordon joined Larson for a trip into the crowd to celebrate the win. Check out the video of the fun below, as Gordon and Larson made it a memorable afternoon for the fans at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
As you can see, that’s a pretty awesome treat from two of the best drivers to ever race in the NASCAR Cup Series. Larson has really taken over the mantle as the flag bearer for Hendrick Motorsports, a position Gordon held admirably during his time as a full-time driver.
While he still has a ways to go to reach Gordon’s success, as Larson’s behind by three championships and he’s still searching for his first Daytona 500 victory, the No. 5 wheelman continues to make the entire Hendrick Motorsports organization proud.
NASCAR’s return to the Brickyard 400 was always going to be memorable, but a victory for Kyle Larson in the event made it that much more special for everyone involved. We’ll see if he can ride the momentum of his fourth win of the season to a couple more before the playoffs begin.
Kyle Larson hopes to race Indy 500 double in 2025
Moreover, the former NASCAR Cup Series champion spent a lot of time on the track as part of his attempt at pulling The Double earlier this season, which Mother Nature thwarted, as Kyle Larson was unable to race in the Coca-Cola 600 later that evening.

The question remains though, could Larson attempt The Double again in 2025? Fans and media members have been clamoring for it, and after his Brickyard 400 victory, Larson touched on the subject.
“I don’t know. I don’t know. I mean, we’ve definitely been talking about it, and I think weighing, you know, what’s important, to everybody. So, it sounds good, I’ll say, so far, but things could change,” Larson told FOX’s Bob Pockrass, regarding The Double in 2025. “So, yeah, we’ll see. I would obviously love to do it. I think everybody knows, that I would love to do it, because in my mind, I did not get to do it this year. I didn’t get to, at least do The Double.
“So yeah, I hope that the pieces can fall into place, and we can hopefully get things put together, and announce something, and you know, get excited about doing The Double next year.”
That’s wonderful news for fans of both NASCAR and IndyCar. Larson’s attempt put a ton of extra eyeballs on the Indianapolis 500, and the rigors a driver has to go through to even qualify for the race, and Larson gained a ton of respect from his peers for even attempting the feat. Hopefully he tries again next season.
