Jeremy Fowler explains how Kellen Moore's system benefits Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley

The Philadelphia Eagles’ coaching staff will look a bit different this coming season.

Hiring new offensive and defensive coordinators in Kellen Moore and Vic Fangio, they’ll be tasked with pushing Philly over the hump on both sides of the ball in the hopes of pursuing a Super Bowl in 2025.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Sirianni is giving Moore free rein to improve the Eagles’ offense this upcoming season.

“I’m hearing that Nick Sirianni, the head coach, is trusting Kellen Moore big time to make it all work,” Fowler said on ESPN Saturday morning. “To blend the principles of the past offense, the things that Jalen Hurts likes. The dual-threat ability, play action, mix it with Moore’s system, and sprinkle in something new for the offense that got stagnant and static late in the year. Could see some more tight end usage, but you’re probably going to see a lot of Saquon Barkley talking to people around the league.

“They believe he’s going to have a massive impact because he’s never had a supporting cast like this … He’s running behind that forest-Giants offensive line for years now. He’s got studs, all pros ahead of him. A ton of weapons, so he’s gonna get the ball a lot.”

Barkley was the second overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft out of Penn State and was a dominant force for the New York Giants from the moment he entered the league. That included being the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2018 and going to two Pro Bowls. Under Moore in Philadelphia, he’s only expected to blossom further.

As for Moore’s past, he briefly played quarterback for the Cowboys in 2015 but never saw much field time while in Dallas and with the Detroit Lions despite earning back-to-back first-team All-American honors while at Boise State in 2010 and 2011.

He transitioned to coaching shortly after his NFL career, becoming the Cowboys QB coach in 2018 before taking over as offensive coordinator from 2019-22. Last season, he held the same position for the Los Angeles Chargers.

In Dallas, Moore led the team to top six finishes in points per game in three of four seasons as offensive coordinator. The Cowboys also finished No. 1 in yards per game in 2021 and 2019. However, he led the Los Angeles offense to a 25th-place finish in points scored per game this season with 20.4 ppg and the Chargers finished with a 5-12 record.
