The Dallas Cowboys have been eliminated from the playoffs, but Mike McCarthy has his team playing as well as just about anybody down the stretch.

The Cowboys have won four of their past five games after upsetting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Sunday night, and owner Jerry Jones seems interested in bringing head coach Mike McCarthy back for another season.

Jones spoke with 105.3 The Fan on Tuesday about what he has seen from Mike McCarthy and the Cowboys the second half of the year.

“I can’t tell you how proud I am of the way the coaching staff, led by Mike McCarthy, the way that the leadership on this team, and really proud of these young players,” Jones said, according to Jon Machota. “They just are growing mentally and physically by leaps and bounds, makes me think we’ve got an outstanding future ahead of us.”

McCarthy is on the last year of his contract in Dallas, but it seems very possible, if not likely, that he will be back in 2025 with the way Jerry Jones is talking.

The Cowboys have battled injuries throughout the year but are 7-8 with two games remaining. Dallas plays at Philadelphia on Sunday before ending the season at home against Washington.

Mike McCarthy is in his fifth season leading the Cowboys after previously being the longtime coach of the Green Bay Packers. He has a 49-33 record overall in Dallas, although those wins have not led to playoff success.

NFL makes change to start time for Packers-Vikings, Cowboys-Eagles Week 17 games

The NFL has made a schedule change for this weekend’s games. The league has announced that Mike McCarthy and the Dallas Cowboys will take on the Philadelphia Eagles at 1 p.m. on Sunday after previously being scheduled for a 4:25 p.m. start.

In addition, the NFL revealed that the Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers game will be played at 4:25 p.m. It was previously scheduled for 1 p.m.

The change was made after the Cowboys were eliminated from playoff contention this past weekend. The Eagles can clinch the NFC East Division title with a win over Dallas.

As for the NFC North matchup, the Vikings are currently tied with the Lions at 13-2, one game behind the Chiefs for the best record in the NFL. The Packers are still in playoff contention with a 10-4 record.

The Eagles beat the Cowboys 34-6 earlier this season but have been playing better as of late with Cooper Rush at quarterback. Dallas has won four of its past five games, including a victory over Tampa Bay on Sunday.
