Micah Parsons has been very impressive during his rookie season with the Dallas Cowboys. In Monday night’s victory over the Philadelphia Eagles, Parsons had four tackles, one tackle for loss, 0.5 sacks, one pass defend, and one quarterback hit. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones made an interesting comparison for the former Penn State star on Tuesday.

“He’s as pure as mother’s milk,” Jones said of Parsons via The Athletic’s Jon Machota. “He just basically steps out there and gives you everything he’s got. Nature gave him skills and, boy, does he know how to use them.”

Dallas selected Parsons with the 12th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft out of Penn State. Parsons has seen time at both linebacker and on the defensive line as a rookie.

Dallas coaches praised Parsons after last week’s position switch

Last week against the Los Angeles Chargers, the Cowboys were without multiple key contributors on the defensive front. Dallas needed Parsons to make a switch to the defensive line. He did just that, and he excelled while doing so. In his debut at defensive end, Parsons had two tackles, one sack, one tackle for loss, and four quarterback hits. The Cowboys held the Chargers to 17 points and less than 100 rushing yards.

Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn loves what Parsons brings to the table.

“I’m hard on him because I have a lot of belief and trust in him,” Quinn said. “He’s a quick study. I was proud of him.

“He can run and hit like a you know what. That’s his superpower. He’s got rare speed and physicality to do that. We want to make sure that we’re always featuring that part of his game.”

Parsons’ versatility on Dallas’ defense is one of the best parts about his game. The rookie can play just about anywhere on the defense if he needed to, and his confidence carries him a long way.

“He thinks he can do everything,” Cowboys special teams coordinator John Fassel said. “He literally wants to return kickoffs. And he wants to be the backup punter. He probably wants to play quarterback. Just a really fun kid, and I wouldn’t put anything past him.”

Coming into Monday’s game against the Eagles, Parsons displayed his confidence and eagerness to get to opposing quarterbacks. Parsons said that every opposing quarterback is on the “hit list.”

“Every quarterback (we face this season) is on the hit list,” Parsons said. “I want all of them. (Jalen) Hurts is on the hit list now, too. You got to look at it like you’re trying to be like The Terminator out there.”
