Before the Dallas Cowboys hired Brian Schottenheimer, they were linked with Deion Sanders. While there never appeared to be serious conversations let alone an interview, Sanders was a popular name in the headlines. His relationship with Jerry Jones is well documented and another example popped up on Thursday.

Jones shared a moment with Sanders and his son, Shedeur, during NFL Honors. The trio were on the red carpet when Jones and Sanders embraced each other. This was after Jones was having a conversation with Shedeur, which was a nice reunion between them.

You can check out the full moment here.

Shedeur Sanders is currently going through the NFL Draft process. He is thought to be out of range for the Cowboys, currently slated at No. 12. Mix in the recent extension of Dak Prescott, and Dallas is not expected to have any real interest in him.

Life will move forward with Prescott and now Schottenheimer. Deion Sanders will return to Boulder for another season with Colorado but his first without Shedeur or Shilo. Colorado is fresh off an nine-win year but has quite a bit of roster turnaround to deal with.

Finding a way to officially work together did not work this offseason and may not ever. But whenever seeing each other at these kinds of events, Jones and Sanders will always have to take a moment and catch up.

Deion Sanders cannot see himself coaching professional football

In the NFL, there are very few jobs that hold the allure that the Dallas Cowboys job holds. Regardless of recent postseason success, it remains among the most prestigious jobs in the country and when rumors that Deion Sanders and Jerry Jones could team up to fill that job, there were more than a few excited fans.

As the search in Dallas was underway, several analysts advocated for the Cowboys bringing in Sanders. It was also reported that the two sides spoke about the job and that Sanders would “almost certainly accept” it if he was offered. However, the Cowboys ultimately hired from within, promoting offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer.

Now, however, Sanders has shared that he doesn’t think he’d be able to coach NFL football, despite the rumors surrounding him and Dallas.

“That’s the way we practiced,” Deion Sanders said. “I know it’s cute but I couldn’t coach pro ball. The way they practice, the way they go about it, I couldn’t take it as a man and as a football enthusiast. I care about the game. The game is still providing for Troy and I. There’s no way I could allow that to happen on my watch. That would be tough.”
