This weekend, Jesse Love is making his NASCAR Cup Series debut at Bristol. There’s one guy to ask about that track – Kyle Busch. During his career across the Truck, Xfinity, and Cup Series, Rowdy has won quite a few races at The Last Great Colosseum.

Jesse Love will have a tough task ahead of him. Getting to make your Cup Series debut will always be jumping in the deep end of the pool. Doing it at Bristol is like jumping into the deep end of the lion pit.

While speaking to the media at Bristol today, Love talked about his debut. He’s done over 2000 laps of simulator time. He’s also talked to Kyle Busch, his Richard Childress Racing teammate.

“Absolutely, it’d be dumb of me to not go ask him questions and pick his ear when I can or pick his brain, rather, and he’s been helpful, for sure,” Love said about talking to Busch. “I’ll always feel like Kyle’s been an open book. I will say, you know, Kyle’s probably the toughest competitor in the garage, and I do notice a little bit of a difference when I’m asking him questions when I’m not racing against him and when I am racing against him, right? Again, it’s really cool to pick a guy’s brain like that. Been able to ask a lot of people questions.”

Jesse Love talked about his relationship with the Front Row Motorsports Cup Series drivers. A lot of those young NASCAR drivers are close. They all grew up racing each other. It sounds like Love has plenty of people to talk to ahead of his debut on Sunday.

Jesse Love taking on massive challenge

Let’s just remember what happened last year at Bristol. The tires in the Cup Series race did not rubber into the track, increasing grip and then moving the line up the track. Instead, the tires were shredded like grated parmesan cheese.

In practice, we have seen the tires rip apart, much like they did last year. The cooler temperatures, along with the cloudy skies, are making the tires shred. Then again, it will be warmer on Sunday and likely more sun. So, it could be a typical Bristol race.

Jesse Love is going to have to navigate all of that on top of racing at the Last Great Colosseum. For a 20-year-old, that is a lot going on at once. Love is very talented, though. I expect him to hold his own.
