Just a few weeks ago, New York Jets defensive back Sauce Gardner didn’t know Jessica Alba. Now, he owns a pair of custom cleats with the actresses face plastered on them.
Gardner attended Game 2 of the NBA playoff game between the Miami Heat and New York Knicks with new teammate Aaron Rodgers. When Rodgers pointed out Alba would be sitting near the two, Gardner was confused.
He admitted that he didn’t know who Alba was at the time. Rodgers got a pretty big kick out of it. So, too, did artist Mike Jordan, according to TMZ Sports. Jordan told the outlet that he wanted to have some fun and commemorate the moment.
“I wanted to do something fun,” Jordan said. “I hope Jessica likes them, too.”
Meeting with the media shortly after the encounter, Gardner explained how everything went down during the game.
“He was just picking on me a little bit for being young. We were getting seated and he was like, ‘Oh, we’re about to sit by …,” Gardner said, forgetting Alba’s name, ‘We’re about to sit by Jessica Alba.’
“And I’m just like, ‘Oh, I don’t know who that is.’ And he just looked at me — he looked at me like I’m crazy. You know what I mean?”
We’re all looking forward to seeing Gardner sport these Alba-themed cleats during a game this season. maybe they’ll bring some good luck to the field.

Jessica Alba shares pickup line Sauce Gardner used
Gardner might not have known who Alba was during his first encounter, but that didn’t stop the NFL defensive back from dropping a pickup line. And it didn’t remain a secret for very long.
After Game 2, Alba shared what Gardner said to one of her friends during the meetup.
“I totally see how this kid Sauce got his name,” Alba wrote on Twitter. “He said to my girl (Lizzy Mathis) ‘How can I get caught up when I’m the catch.’ But in all honesty he was actually very polite with his elder Aaron Rodgers and everyone else in the room. It was nice meeting you.”
Despite the situation, Alba was a pretty good sport about everything. But, unfortunately for Gardner, he probably won’t live down the experience for some time.
Afterward, Gardner said Rodgers continued to give him a hard time about not knowing Alba during the Heat-Knicks game. We’re guessing that’ll probably last throughout the season, too.
