Jets WR Garrett Wilson limps off practice field with apparent ankle injury
Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson suffered what appeared to be an ankle injury during a Thursday morning preseason training camp session.
NFL reporter Dov Kleiman managed to take video of Wilson, the former Ohio State star, limping off the field towards the locker room. An athletic trainer came over and joined him on the walk for treatment.

Garrett Wilson won NFL offensive rookie of year honors in 2022
Now, it’s unclear whether this is a serious injury or more content for Hard Knocks. Coach Robert Saleh said after practice that Wilson was OK and confirmed he did suffer an ankle injury.
It’s a given that Garrett Wilson is one of the most talented young receivers in the league. After all, he won NFL offensive rookie of the year honors for his 2022 season.
Think Aaron Rodgers, the Jets new quarterback, won’t be concerned? The Jets used four quarterbacks in 2022. But Wilson was steady, no matter who was throwing to him. He caught 83 passes for 1,103 yards. Both of those were team rookie records. His four touchdown catches also led all league rookie receivers.
He also posted three games of at least 100 yards, with another three topping at least 90. Plus, he made defensive backs miss. According to Pro Football Focus, opposing defenders missed 22 tackles, as they tried to bring WIlson to the ground. The PFF analytics showed that at least one defender missed on one out of every four Wilson catches. Coach Robert Saleh called Wilson a “juicy route-runner.”
Aaron Rodgers likened Wilson to Davante Adams
In an interview with the New York Times, Rodgers compared him to another receiver and former teammate — Davante Adams, now with the Raiders. Well, maybe Garrett Wilson is Adams adjacent.

“Davante is in a class by himself,” Rodgers said. “But that 17 reminds me of the other 17.”

Here’s hoping Garrett Wilson only tweaked his ankle. If he’s healthy, Rodgers and Wilson may light up the league. Wilson already is a big fan of his new quarterback.
“He’s so cerebral and so smart and knows ball to the point where whatever he tells you to do out on that field is the right thing to do,” Garrett Wilson told the Times. “And a lot of times it is about ball. We haven’t graduated to the point where we talk about anything yet, but I’d like to think we’ll get there.”
“He saw something in us,” Wilson added. “That’s Aaron Rodgers. I trust what he sees. I trust his eyes.”
