Jim Harbaugh could have his pick of NFL teams should he want to return to the pros. The Michigan coach has a national championship to try and win first.

But, as Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio put it, Harbaugh has an entire division’s worth of interest. No, not an entire division, just four teams at this point.

Some familiar teams are in the running but others are starting to show their interest.

“Potential destinations include the Chargers and Raiders — with (as one league source suggested over the weekend) the Bears and the Patriots,” Florio wrote. “Last year, Harbaugh was interested in joining the Chargers. They didn’t make a change. This year, they’re looking.”

Harbaugh could’ve been in LA last year to coach the Chargers, but obviously that didn’t happen. It’s an enticing option with talent on both sides of the ball, especially at quarterback.

Pairing Harbaugh with Justin Herbert would certainly be something worth watching in 2024.

The Raiders have the allure of Las Vegas and Harbaugh could certainly draft his own quarterback. Playmakers like DaVante Adams and Maxx Crosby certainly show promise for a competitive team down the stretch.

The Bears were always the team that could be the dream pairing with Harbaugh, since he used to play for the franchise once upon a time. However, a stronger end to the season than anticipated could keep Matt Eberflus in the fold.

If Harbaugh goes there, he could coach former Ohio State foe Justin Fields

As far as the Patriots are concerned, it’s up in the air regarding Bill Belichick. Sunday’s loss to the New York Jets could’ve been his last game in New England.

Harbaugh was ominous about his future at Michigan, saying he hoped he had one. He went in a different direction.

No, he didn’t speak about whether he’d be with the Wolverines next season, or whether he’s interested in the NFL. He’s simply interested in the future, and he hopes he’s a part of it.

“There’s a calendar, I’ll gladly talk about the future next week. I hope to have one. How about that? A future? I hope to have one. Yes. Thank you,” Harbaugh said, grinning at media day for the CFP finale.

Well, the Michigan leader hasn’t exactly been one to give a straight answer throughout his time in Ann Arbor. Just check out any of his post-game interviews. Nevertheless, you’ve got to give him credit for always keeping reporters on their toes.

Time will tell what the future holds for Harbaugh. Whether he’s at Michigan or in the NFL, some fanbase will be elated to have him come September 2024. It just remains to be seen who it’ll be.
