Jimmy Butler trade: Draymond Green guarantees Golden State Warriors will win the NBA Finals

With their big move at the trade deadline, Draymond Green has the Golden State Warriors again winning the NBA Finals.
Green was asked about the trade made by Golden State to acquire Jimmy Butler on ‘NBA Tip-Off’ on TNT ahead of the NBA All-Star Game on Sunday. He said it has already had an impact on the Warriors’ approach in the four games that Butler has played for them prior to the break.
“It’s been incredible,” said Green. “He’s brought a purpose back to this organization. I think, you know, we were kind of headed in the wrong direction thinking we were figuring it out and never figuring it out this year, throughout the course of this year. Since he’s been here, we’ve walked into every game thinking and believing that we’re going to win that game. That goes a long way in this league. When you walk into a game, like, ‘Ah, man, we probably are going to lose this game’? It’s not good. So he’s brought back that belief.”
Golden State is 3-1 as part of a road trip they were on heading into the break in the games that Butler has played in, which has the Warriors back above .500 on the season at 28-27. In those games, Butler has averaged 21.3 points, 7.0 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 1.3 steals.
This is all despite that some thought Green and Butler would butt heads being on the same team. Green, though, says they’ve put that aside, especially himself as part of the team’s new trio with Butler and Steph Curry.
“You know, alphas never feel the need to show another alpha that you’re an alpha. So I think everyone’s like, ‘Oh, man, there are two alphas? How are they going to co-exist?’. The fact of the matter is you do what you do, I do what I do,” explained Green. “There’s a tremendous level of respect there. Quite frankly, as the alpha that I am, I’m also not afraid to fall in line. I’m going to follow Jimmy Butler. I’m going to follow Steph Curry. We’re going to follow those two guys right to a championship.”

You read that right too. Despite being tied for tenth in the Western Conference, which is just barely in the Play-In Tournament, and tied for just the thirteenth best record in the association as of now, Green says this move will be the difference in them now being able to win another NBA Championship, which would be the fifth in this era for Golden State.
“I think we’re going to win the championship,” Green stated. ‘I’m sorry – I said I think we’re going to win a championship but I lied. We are going to win the championship.”
“Listen, in 2022, it was like, ‘Ah, maybe we can’ and then you were like ‘Ah, no, we can’t’ and then ‘Yes we can’. I’m telling you – because I don’t believe any of these teams are that great. Boston? Yes, you’ve got to go through Boston. You’ve got to get through the champs. We’ve got to get through the West first. But none of these teams scare me,” said Green. “I don’t see any team that, ‘Oh, that’s the team that’s going to do it’. You know why you don’t see that team? Because you’re about to start seeing that team. It is the Warriors.”
That’s a lot considering Golden State is just right now barely in the NBA Playoffs. However, with a new big three of their own, the Warriors have 27 games left to see if this can position themselves to compete to win another title.
