JJ Watt demands Titans return Houston Oilers throwback uniforms to the Texans
Houston Texans legend JJ Watt took to social media on Sunday following his former team’s overtime win against the Tennessee Titans to demand satisfaction over the Oilers throwback uniforms. After the 19-16 victory, Watt tweeted, “We get the uniforms back.”
“That’s how this works, I don’t make the rules,” Watt added. “Sorry, not sorry. Too bad, so sad.”
The Titans made a point of wearing the old Houston Oilers throwback uniforms against the team that lost the franchise to Nashville so many years ago. Alas, it didn’t give them the extra juice they needed in overtime. They’ll face off again in Houston on New Year’s Eve but now, the Texans are 8-6 while the Titans fall to 5-9.
The Texans were playing the Week 15 matchup without starting quarterback CJ Stroud who is in concussion protocol. In his place, backup Case Keenum went 23-for-36 with 229 passing yards, one touchdown pass, one interception and just one rushing yard. He also took three sacks.
Watt joined the Houston Texans’ Ring of Honor earlier this season when the team hosted the Pittsburgh Steelers. He played for Houston from 2011-20, before heading to Arizona ahead of the 2021 season.

Titans QB Will Levis banged up on OT loss vs Texans
The Tennessee Titans took the Houston Texans to overtime on Sunday but lost quarterback Will Levis on their final play. The rookie went down on 3rd and 8 and the broadcast cut away instead of playing a replay. Luckily, Levis was able to walk off the field to enter the blue medical tent and stayed on the field as the Texans attempted a 54-yard field goal. Houston knocked the kick through to keep the NFL from notching its first tied game of the season.
Before taking the big hit that knocked him out at the end, Levis went 17-for-26 for 199 passing yards with one interception. He had a tough day behind an offensive line that allowed seven sacks for a loss of 61 yards against the Texans defensive front.
“We’ll see how he comes out,” Titans head coach Mike Vrabel said after the game. “I’m sure he’ll have to get looked at, we’ll see where things go. When you talk about pass protection or sacks, it starts with getting in and out of the route quick, protecting longer, all those things have to happen. We have to do a better job of it.”
