Joe Burrow gifts offensive linemen authentic Japanese Katana swords for Christmas: ‘Most ancient form of respect’
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow gifted his offensive lineman authentic Japanese Katana swords for Christmas. According to Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic, each sword is unique as it comes with its own story. Burrow put them all in a room and had the linemen pick theirs out.
“Joe does a great job at buying gifts that are extremely meaningful,” LT Orlando Brown said. “The fact that he bought me a sword, it’s the most ancient form of respect.”
The Bengals are not having a great 2024 season with a 6-8 record, but Burrow is having arguably the best season of his career. The former LSU Tigers star has completed 68.5 percent of his passes for 3,977 yards, and 36 touchdowns with a 107.1 passer rating. That’s probably the reason the offensive linemen got Katana swords from Burrow since they helped him have a productive year.
NFL legend Kurt Warner recently praised Burrow for what he’s done this season. “He’s been this guy for a while. His strengths coming in remain his strengths,” Warner said earlier this month, per Bengals.com. “I’ve always felt Joe has been one of the best and quickest information processors.

“His ability to get the ball out quickly, where to get his eyes. If there’s (one area where he’s improved), you might say it’s his playmaking. His buying time in the pocket and creating opportunities. He’s maybe had to do that more this year than I’ve seen him in the past, and he’s done it really, really well, which I don’t know most of us really, really knew coming into the league.”
Warner likes what Burrow has done this year but explained why he probably wouldn’t vote for him for MVP. “It would be hard for me to vote for Joe, even though if we just stacked the play and we didn’t look at wins and losses, yeah, he’d be right there in the conversation and maybe win my vote,” Warner stated. “The record matters when there are other guys in the conversation. We’re always looking for the things that differentiate one player from another.
“So when you have multiple people who are having great MVP-type seasons, that has to be one of them. just because that’s the nature of the beast. Although wins and losses aren’t completely on the quarterback.”
