Joe Burrow reveals his pick for the best QB in the world
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow made his stance perfectly clear this week when a reporter asked him who he believes the best quarterback in the world is right now. The former Heisman Trophy winner responded confidently that the best quarterback is in Kansas City – 2022 league MVP Patrick Mahomes.
“I don’t think there’s any argument right now,” Burrow said, “it’s Patrick [Mahomes]. Until someone has a better year than he’s had. He’s the one to knock off.”
Mahomes capped off his sixth year in the NFL with his second Super Bowl championship. The only quarterback to top 5,000 passing yards in the regular season, the former Texas Tech star also added another 703 passing yards in the postseason.
Mahomes had 41 passing touchdowns in the regular season and another seven on his way to winning it all. Although he had 12 interceptions through the year, he cleaned it up during the playoffs and didn’t record a single one.
The 27-year-old’s accuracy was as high as it’s ever been in his career in 2022. He posted a completion percentage of 67.1% and bumped it up to 72% in the postseason.
Unlike Joe Burrow, Mahomes had a season to acclimate to the league before taking over as the Chiefs’ starter in 2018. His first season starting revealed his potential to be the best quarterback in the country when he passed for 5,097 yards and 50 touchdowns.
The Tyler, Texas, native is the youngest player to ever win a league MVP and a Super Bowl title. Additionally, he became the fastest QB in NFL history to reach 10,000 career passing yards.

In Pro Football Focus’s quarterback rankings for the 2023 season, Mahomes is, unsurprisingly, No. 1. Following the Super Bowl MVP are Bills quarterback Josh Allen and Burrow.
Mahomes shotguns at Luke Combs concert
Evidently, Patrick Mahomes is talented on the field and the stage. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback made an appearance at a Luke Combs concert in Kansas City on Saturday. He was tossing back more than just footballs.
The Chiefs star joined Combs on stage and shotgunned a beer to the pleasure of the hometown crowd. Mahomes was all smiles as the country singer serenaded him off the stage. Combs wasn’t the only artist the QB was there to support.
The two-time Super Bowl winner met up with Combs’ opening act, Flatland Calvary. The band is from Lubbock, Texas, the same town where Mahomes spent four years at Texas Tech. Mahomes certainly isn’t in Lubbock anymore.
Earning $45 million a year in his contract, Mahomes is a busy man, traveling the world. This offseason, Mahomes was at the F1 Grand Prix in Miami. Just before that, he gave the iconic “Riders up!” call at the Kentucky Derby.
