Cincinnati Bengals fans are anxiously awaiting the return of their superstar quarterback, Joe Burrow. He suffered a calf injury earlier in fall camp and many fans are wondering when he’ll be back on the field for them. On Friday afternoon, Bengals fans got some positive news, as Burrow was seen running and throwing the football without the calf sleeve on his leg. Cincinnati will be taking on the Green Bay Packers on Friday evening in their preseason opener.

Check out the video below.

For more on what Bengals’ head coach Zac Taylor said in his latest update on Burrow’s injury on August 9th, check out the article below from On3’s Kaiden Smith.

The football world collectively gasped when Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow went down with a calf injury that looked potentially devastating during the teams’ training camp. Burrow was carted off of the field and did not turn to practice, instilling more fear in the hearts of Bengals fans, but was fortunately diagnosed with just a calf strain.

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor provided a timeline on Burrow’s injury the following day, saying Burrow would be sidelined for ‘several weeks’. And on Wednesday, Taylor provided another injury update on his star quarterback. Or did he?

“The timeline is several weeks from when I said several weeks,” Taylor said according to NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Taylor’s response was mysterious, but it appearers that Burrow’s injury status and timeline to return remains the same. Taylor gave his latest update on Burrow’s status on July 29, so in theory, several weeks from that date is when fans should expect to see Burrow back in action, as initially reported.

Taylor’s injury update may seem a little bit insignificant, but then again, nothing changes if nothing changes.

The Cincinnati superstar is expected to get a historic contract sometime in the near future.

Burrow has earned every penny of his historic contract, whatever number it ends up being. He’s led the Bengals to back-to-back AFC Championship Game appearances, barely losing last year to the Kansas City Chiefs, 23-20. In 2021, Burrow was able to miraculously guide the Bengals to the Super Bowl, despite being repeatedly pummeled behind one of the worst offensive lines in league history.

Burrow just completed his third NFL season with the Bengals. During his trio of seasons, he has thrown for over 11,700 passing yards and 82 touchdowns on an efficient 68.2% completion percentage. His development has really kicked off over the last two years. After tearing his ACL and MCL as a rookie, he has come back to establish himself as one of the best players in the league at his position.

As the No. 1 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, Burrow signed a four-year deal worth $36 million. Now, with how quarterbacks like Patrick MahomesDeshaun WatsonLamar Jackson, and Jalen Hurts have been paid, many expect his next deal to easily be worth at least $50 million per season. And according to Adam Schefter, that will soon become reality before the start of the 2023 NFL season.
