Joe Judge criticizes Kadarius Toney following ejection
Kadarius Toney lived up to his human-joystick nickname yesterday against the Dallas Cowboys. However, what he did when the game was already over caused New York Giants head coach Joe Judge to criticize Toney.
Late in the fourth quarter, the Giants first round pick threw a punch at Cowboys safety Damontae Kazee. It came at the end of a scuffle after the whistle, and led to Toney being ejected from the contest.
Afterwards, Judge elaborated on the situation with Toney.
“Look there’s a pretty distinct line in terms of competing and doing things that we’re not going to condone as a team that put us behind,” Judge said in his post-game press conference. “That’s not going to be accepted .. not going to be condoned. That’s as far as I’m going to go right now with that. Obviously, it resulted in him leaving the game, and I’m just going to leave it at that right there.”
Judge also gave Toney an earful on his way to the locker room, pointing at the tunnel and telling his wide receiver to get off the field. Moreover, Judge could be seen mouthing the word embarrassing after the conflict.
Unfortunately, Toney put a mark on what was a historic day for the rookie. He was electric — accumulating 189 yards on ten catches for the Giants. He set the rookie record for receiving yards in a game for New York, surpassing Odell Beckham Jr.’s previous mark.
Judge hasn’t condoned fighting throughout his entire tenure as Giants head coach. Earlier this summer, he forced the entire team to run laps and do push-ups at practice following a training camp scuffle.
The Giants loved what Toney showed on the field yesterday — but they’ll make sure he doesn’t throw anymore punches.

Toney: ‘Your emotions just can get the best of you sometimes.’
It was announced Toney won’t be suspended for his actions, much to the delight of Giants fans everywhere. Still, the former Florida wide receiver took to Twitter to apologize for the moment of weakness.
“Wanna take the time out to apologize to the entire organization, owners, my Teammates and the entire Big Blue,” tweeted Toney. “Your emotions just can get the best of you sometimes. No excuses, just actions. Thank y’all.”
Evidently, Judge will be delighted to see Toney is taking action to make the situation right. Now the focus can be returned to his impressive day, not his rookie mistake that ended it.
The Giants currently sit at 1-4 — an injury-battered squad that watched their biggest play-makers go down yesterday. Now, Joe Judge will have to rely on Kadarius Toney to contribute the way he did yesterday if they’re to weather the storm.
