By now, everyone knows that Ohio State’s Marvin Harrison Jr. is the top receiver prospect in the 2024 NFL Draft.
But beyond his production with the Buckeyes and the generational tagline many have associated him with, just why exactly is Harrison viewed as the undisputed No. 1 receiver prospect, and in the eyes of some, the best overall player on the board?
FOX Sports‘ Joel Klatt gave the answer while discussing his top-five pass catchers in the class.
“He is as good as they come,” Klatt said this week. “Physically, he’s way bigger than you would expect. He’s 6-foot-4, all of 205 [pounds], probably a little bit more. He’s fast, I think he’s faster than people realize. He runs terrific routes, he’s a technician in a lot of ways, understands the game and is a tireless worker. And in fact, every time I’ve been to Ohio State, and it’s been a lot… after practice, he’s on the field, every time, after practice catching footballs off the jugs gun. Every single time.
“Whether he was nursing an ankle injury or he was fully healthy. Whether it was spring or whether it was summer. Whether it was the fall in the first week or it was before the Michigan game. The guy is a tireless worker. … His standard is greatness.”

Harrison showcased his talent across three seasons at Ohio State, hauling in 150 receptions for 2,495 yards and 31 touchdowns. He won the Biletnikoff Award in 2023 and earned his second consecutive All-American and All-Big Ten honor.
Marvin Harrison Jr. plans to skip drills at NFL Combine
Harrison is gonna let his tape do the work for him leading up to the Draft, opting not to participate in organized drills during this week’s NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. He will, however, take part in team interviews.
“All signs show Harrison’s plan is to continue working out in Columbus, Ohio with Buckeye strength and conditioning tycoon Mickey Marotti, among others, to prepare not to run a 40-yard dash, but play football in the fall,” Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated wrote Monday. “His sterling reputation as a worker and a person also give Harrison even more flexibility here.
“That allows everyone to view Harrison’s plan as strictly a business decision, made with an eye towards having a great rookie year, rather than as some reflection on his character.”
