Joel Klatt mocks Tyler Booker to Chicago Bears in 2025 NFL Draft

Heading into Caleb Williams‘ second year, the Chicago Bears are attempting to surround him with better pieces. Box No. 1 was checked off with a new head coach, hiring Ben Johnson away from the Detroit Lions. Next up is putting together a better offensive roster to help Williams out on the field and the NFL Draft will play a big role.
FOX’s Joel Klatt gave his say on how Chicago should handle the No. 10 overall pick. When attempting to help out a quarterback, better skill position players are usually the popular answer. Klatt is going in a different direction though, suggesting an offensive lineman for the Bears.
“Ben Johnson comes in to be their head coach from Detroit for one specific reason,” Klatt said. “Get the best out of Caleb Williams. I don’t believe you do that through skill position players. I believe you do that through the offensive line… I like offensive lineman from Alabama, Tyler Booker.”
Chicago was in a similar position last year, having a top-10 pick along with No. 1 overall, which was used on Williams. Wide receiver Rome Odunze was the selection, having a nice rookie season for the Bears. Odunze caught 54 passes for 734 yards and three touchdowns.
Williams to Odunze was a great connection — when the quarterback had time to throw. The Bears offensive line was historically bad in 2024, allowing nearly 70 sacks. Nobody in the NFL took a bigger beating than Williams last season.

Klatt is hoping the Bears learn from last season and make the right pick to get Williams some protection. Even if Booker is someone who will slot into the interior, a guard is better than no offensive lineman at all.
“Might not be the sexiest pick but you’ve got to get Caleb Williams some help in front of him,” Klatt said. “He was sacked 68 times last season, that was the third most in history. How about an offensive lineman? Huh, Chicago? I think that’s an easy pick there. I think that Booker is likely more of an interior guy but just taking somebody who can play on the offensive line and do it well is an upgrade.”
Booker leaves Alabama with a few accolades to his name. He was named first-team All-SEC during the 2023 and 2024 seasons. This past year was taken to the next level, earning a first-team All-American spot. Left guard is where he primarily played, projecting to stick to the position at the next level.
