Joel Klatt says Arizona Cardinals drafting Will Anderson 'makes so much sense'
While quarterback conversations have overrun this draft class, Will Anderson still remains near the top as one of the best prospects on the board. The edge out of Alabama has been seen as no less than a Top-5 pick for the duration of his evaluation. But, in the end, where is his perfect home?
To Joel Klatt, Anderson’s best fit is out west in Arizona with the Cardinals. The FOX Sports analyst broke down that selection on his show earlier on Monday. In his eyes, it just makes too much sense for Anderson to end up in Arizona. Adding a player like him with his production and work ethic is exactly what the Cardinals should zero in on, especially considering where their defense is.
“Arizona trades to No. 4 and gets the best edge rusher on their board. Again, this makes so much sense to me,” Klatt started. “Arizona is going to take their card up…and it’s going to say Will Anderson, outside linebacker from Alabama.”
“I love Will Anderson. This guy is an absolute alpha. He is what you want in your locker room,” continued Klatt. “He is gonna be your captain by the time he’s in his second or third year. That’s the type of worker he is. When your best players are also your hardest workers? You’ve got something. And that’s the exact style of player that Arizona can take here at No. 4.”

“For the better part of two years, this guy has been the most dominant player in college football,” said Klatt. “I really love Will Anderson’s game. I think he’s good against the run, I obviously think he’s great rushing the passer. And he would help an Arizona defense that really needs him.”
There’s little questioning when it comes to what Anderson can be in the NFL if he continues to develop. Over his three seasons in Tuscaloosa, he produced over 200 tackles, 34.5 sacks, a forced fumble, and a pick-six. Long story short, he wreaked havoc every time he stepped on the field and was often considered the far-and-away leader as the best defender at the collegiate level.
That’s why, to Klatt, Arizona should be tripping over themselves to select Anderson as quickly as possible. While the other franchises fight over quarterbacks, he sees a defender who can make an instant impact in Anderson, which is why he thinks the Cardinals need to ensure they get him and fit him right into their defense.
