Joey Bosa calls shot for 2022 NFL season, talks relationship with Khalil Mack
With a loss to the Raiders in the final game of the regular season, the Los Angeles Chargers were eliminated from the postseason. The team finished the season 5-7 after getting off to a hot, 4-1 start. Ahead of the 2022 season, the Chargers reloaded and will attempt to survive the gauntlet of this season’s AFC West behind Justin Herbert, Austin Ekeler, Keenen Allen, and Joey Bosa.
Bosa spoke with NFL Network’s Taylor Bisciotti during Chargers minicamp this week. In that conversation, Bosa believes his team has what it takes to make a Super Bowl run.
“If we come together & give it our best shot, we really feel like we can take it all the way this year,” said Bosa.
Bosa just finished his sixth year in the NFL, including his third straight Pro Bowl appearance. He set a career-high with 7 forced fumbles last year to pair with his fourth year of double-digit sacks.

Bosa isn’t the only defensive ammunition for Los Angeles though. The team traded for LB Khalil Mack from the Bears back in March. Mack has remained one of the best defensive players in the NFL. In eight years, he has three Pro Bowl Selections, three All-Pro selections, and the 2016 Defensive Player of the Year.
Besides his defensive prowess, Bosa says Mack has brought even more with him to LA.
“It’s amazing. It’s amazing to have a guy like that to lean on,” Bosa said to Bisciotti. “He reminds me of me a bit. He’s a chill dude. Chill temperament.”
The pair will undoubtedly cause problems next season as totaled 16.5 sacks last season. For how much firepower Herbert and the offense can provide, the Chargers will be equally emphatic on defense. They’ll need both to compete with the new versions of the Chiefs, Raiders and Broncos. After three straight seasons finishing in the bottom half of the division, Bosa and the Chargers have their sights set on a much higher finish in 2022.
