Joey Chestnut is a legend for the endless variety of foods he has shoveled into his stomach over the years. There will probably never be another person quite like him. On Wednesday night ahead of Thanksgiving, “Jaws” once again reminded everyone who the competitive eating king is. He punched in at the Cleveland Cavaliers game to annihilate 47 pierogis, which will be yet another amazing feat to put in his resume.

Not only that, Chestnut ate the 47 pierogis in 90 seconds, which is unfathomable. But, such is the man they nicknamed “Jaws” over the years. He’s the greatest eater in history. And quite frankly, it’s not even close. In 2014, Joey “Jaws” Chestnut ate 165 pierogis in eight minutes, setting the record, according to Major League Eating.

In September of 2024, Chestnut defeated Kobayashi in a hot dog eating competition televised by Netflix. Chestnut defeated him 83-67 in the 10-minute contest. Because the rules and specification of food was different from Major League Eating Rules, it is not an official record.

Joey Chestnut has accomplished incredible things

Chestnut defeated Kobayashi at the 2007 Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July Hot Dog Eating Contests to bring the Mustard belt back to the USA. It was the start of an unrivaled eight-year run at the top of the Nathan’s hot dog eating contest. Chestnut was undefeated in that event through 2014. He also won the title back in the 2016 event to win his ninth title.

Chestnut holds the world hot dogs eating record–an unfathomable 76 Nathan’s hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes. His 2022 title was his 15th win in the event. Not only that, Chestnut has put up some mind-blowing accomplishments in eating a number of different items over the years.

In 2007, he destroyed 182 chicken wings in 30 minutes. That same year, he also ate 45 pulled pork sandwiches in 10 minutes. In 2006, he ate 9 pounds and six ounces in 10 minutes.

It’ll be fascinating to see what other eating accomplishment “Jaws” adds to his resume in the future. In the meantime, he’ll continue to be an American icon for his legendary accomplishments.
