Joey Logano believes every racetrack should only have one race
Joey Logano believes the best way to grow NASCAR is by “spreading the wealth.” For that reason, the 33-year-old driver believes that racetracks on the Cup Series circuit should only host on race per season.
Speaking on SiriusXM NASCAR, Logano highlighted the benefits of each track only hosting one race per year. And, mostly, he believes it would benefit fans.
By including more locations on the circuit, he believes it would give more fans the opportunity to enjoy a live race. Ultimately, that would grow the audience for the sport.
“No racetrack should have more than one race,” Logano said. “I think that because we’ve seen that spreading out the love is good for the sport. We’ve proven that, so many times recently.
“When we went to Road America, oh my goodness, the place was packed. I say this all the time, it is asking a lot for fans to travel a long ways away to go watch a race. If you’ve gotta travel 3-4 hours — then there’s hotel rooms — all of sudden it’s expensive. It’s asking a lot. If it’s in your backyard and you can just drive there and come back home? It’s a lot easier.”
Logano brings up some strong points. When the NASCAR series spreads out the season, tracks tend to see a rise in attendance. Visiting new tracks also gives fans at home a different visual, as well.

So, perhaps NASCAR will start taking some of Logano’s advice on this matter.
Joey Logano having up-and-down year in 2023
Logano has enjoyed some ups and downs on the racetrack throughout NASCAR’s 2023 regular season.
Through 15 races this season, Logano has finished inside the top-10 seven times — nearly half of the regular season. He’s also posted four top-fives and won his lone race at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
Yet Logano still ranks 12th in the driver standings. That’s because he’s finished 30th or worse in four races this year. He’s also finished outside the top-15 an additional three times.
So, there have been some bumps along the way for Logano this year.
The 33-year-old is coming off a strong performance at the Enjoy Illinois 300 in St. Louis last Sunday, finishing third. Can he carry some of that momentum into this weekend’s race at Sonoma?
Logano and the rest of the field will line up for the Toyota/Save Mart 350. The green flag waves at 3:30 p.m. ET with the race airing on FOX.
