Joey Logano believes Iowa Speedway will be a 'sell out' in 2024
With the release of the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series schedule, Iowa Speedway is the new track. Count Joey Logano among the supporters of this move. Logano is really good at being honest when it comes to racing and tracks. He’s got nothing but good things to say about Iowa.
While the Cup Series has never raced at Iowa Speedway, NASCAR has history there, they also own the track. NASCAR raced the Xfinity and Truck Series at the track throughout the years. This past season, IndyCar put on a successful doubleheader weekend.
On SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, Joey Logano talked about his anticipation for Iowa.
“I think it’s great. We said this lots of times, when you go to a race track that hasn’t had a Cup race before or it hasn’t had one in a while, it’s a huge deal,” Logano explained. “People show up. I’m sure the place is going to sell out. People get really excited to see something new, the unknown and all that. It’s cool.
“I think that’s a great thing. That track’s put on some great races before and I’m sure the Cup cars will have a good race there. A surface that’s a little wore out, it’s bumpy, it’s got a lot of character to it, it’s wide. You can go a lot of places, that’s built for the Next Gen car. You gotta have a car that’s really, a track that’s wide for the Next Gen car to put on a good race and I think Iowa has that. I’m excited to go up there.”
Joey Logano himself has history at Iowa Speedway.
“Did you know? Here’s a little fun fact for you. I led the first lap ever of competition at Iowa. In the Hooters Pro Cup Series [now the CARS Tour].”

Joey Logano looking forward to 2024
Now that Joey Logano is out of the NASCAR Playoffs, he has to be looking ahead to 2024. The 2022 champion wasn’t able to defend his title this season. A tough Round of 16 didn’t help his attempt at becoming a back-to-back champion.
Is the 2024 NASCAR schedule as wonderful and amazing as what was promised? No. It is still a strong schedule that should test the Next Gen car. Whether that is updates on short tracks and road courses or a continuation of thrilling intermediate track racing, the product will be a little different.
The season is going to open with Daytona and Atlanta one after the other. That’s an intense way to start the season. It might just be enough to keep casual fans invested with two superspeedways to start the year. It is at least an interesting thought from NASCAR and its TV partners.
Joey Logano is going to be a championship contender again next season. I don’t know if the new schedule works to his strengths or not. As a two-time champion, he will be fine racing on whatever tracks NASCAR throws his way.
