Joey Logano calls for NASCAR to take away Austin Dillon’s win after finish line wrecks
A lot of drama after the checkered flag in Richmond. Joey Logano went on a tirade against Austin Dillon following the finish. Dillon put the world’s biggest “bump and run” on Logano before also right rear-hooking Denny Hamlin to win his first NASCAR race in two years.
After the race, Joey Logano was not happy. He criticized the move from Austin Dillon in some not-so-nice words. Dillon entered tonight’s race 32nd in points with a season-best finish of P6. Now, he’s in the playoffs.
Logano spoke with the media after the race on pit road.
“Apparently it’s okay, what do you want me to say?” Logano told reporters, via Matt Weaver of Sportsnaut. “Apparently, you can come from five car lengths back and completely wreck someone and then wreck another one to the line and we’re gonna call that racing.”
In fact, Joey Logano wants NASCAR to take the win away from Dillon. But he knows that they won’t.
“Yeah, yeah [they should take it away], they won’t. They won’t.”
With all of the chaos and madness at the end of the race, Joey Logano walked away P19. A long way away from where he expected himself to be heading into the final corner.
Since Logano picked up the win at Nashville in June, he is going to be just fine. The win from Dillon didn’t mess up his playoff chances. But it did affect the cutline and how the last three weeks are going to play out.

Joey Logano didn’t expect hit from Austin Dillon
When you are leading by a few car lengths into the final turn, you don’t expect someone to give you the bumper. You really don’t expect to get sent into the wall in a cloud of your own tire smoke.
That’s exactly what happened to Logano.
“No, when you get that far ahead, three four car lengths ahead in three. I didn’t back up the entry, I was like, ‘I’ll just wrap the bottom here, I’m good.’ And he just drives in so hard. Obviously, he didn’t make the turn because he hit me and the 11 was going to win the race. So, he had no intention to race. I beat him fair and square on the restart and he just pulled a chickenshit move. He’s a piece of crap, he sucks. He’s sucked his whole career, and now he’s going to be in the playoffs and good for him, I guess.”
As far as retaliation goes, Joey Logano is unsure. But given the comments from other drivers, I don’t think Austin Dillon will have many friends for the last 13 weeks of the season.
