Saturday night might have been the least stressful Bristol Night Race of Joey Logano’s career, and he had a friend on pit road afterward. With his ticket to the Round of 12 punched and Hardy joining him on pit road, the NASCAR star had a good time in Tennessee.

Despite finishing P28, Joey Logano was able to smile after last night’s race. That win in Atlanta came in handy. He would not have been in great position if this Round of 16 was only based on Watkins Glen and Bristol.

When you have a star like Hardy waiting for you on pit road, it helps make the bad finish not seem so bad. Looks like everybody was having a good time.

Joey Logano has won at Bristol in the past. It is a track that he can usually rely on for a solid finish. At least in the pre-Next Gen era. Since the new car was introduced, Logano has finishes of P27, P34, P22, and P28.

Well, it’s not so bad when you know there is no chance of being eliminated. Still, it is interesting to see Logano struggle at Bristol so much in the new car. Passing is almost impossible without a tire that shreds in 50 laps, so that could have a lot to do with it.

Team Penske ended up with all three of their drivers advancing to the next round. Harrison Burton of Wood Brothers Racing, who has an alliance with Penske, did not advance.

Joey Logano, Team Penske teammates advance

Outside of Joey Logano’s win at Atlanta, Team Penske kept a low profile. Ryan Blaney has not had a great start to the playoffs because of his DNF at The Glen. But his performances at Atlanta and Bristol more than made up for it.

Austin Cindric was perhaps the most impressive of all. At least based on expectations for each individual driver. Cindric had back-to-back top-10s to open the playoffs. He was P13 at Bristol. He comfortably made the Round of 12.

Logano was the only driver of the three to not record two top-10s in the first round. Again, that win was major. It meant that the rest of the round didn’t really matter much. I won’t be shocked if Logano comes out very well-prepared for Kansas. Another win and he’s in the Round of 8. At that point, you can taste the Championship 4.

Team Penske has won back-to-back championships with Joey Logano and Ryan Blaney. Are they going to win another for the third straight year?
