Joey Logano causes wreck late in Stage 2, leaves Denny Hamlin furious
Fighting for position at the end of Stage 2, Joey Logano threw an ill-advised block on Chris Buescher and caused quite a wreck. Logano battled back from an early pass-through penalty from NASCAR to lead laps.
Denny Hamlin ended up going into the back of Buescher. Hamlin battled back as well from an earlier spin involving Kyle Busch.
A late block on Buescher was not the right move. Joey Logano worked so hard to get himself into contention for this race. Now, he’s on a tow truck heading for the pits, if he’s able to continue at all.
“F*** me! Every God damn time!” Hamlin said on the radio.
Three fast cars were damaged in this one.
Thank goodness these Cup Series drivers aren’t afraid to race two and three wide on this track. Judging by the Truck and Xfinity races, you would think it wouldn’t be possible. Yes, there have been incidents, but the racing has been exciting.
Joey Logano and his quest for a win today are done. Chris Buescher is probably not going to win this race after that damage. However, Denny Hamlin made his way back into the top-3 soon after the wreck and is still zooming around.

Joey Logano, Fords show speed again
Before Logano incurred his penalty today for his modified racing glove from qualifying, he was P2 in qualifying. Michael McDowell was the pole-sitter and we had the same front row, reversed, as we had in Daytona.
These Mustang Dark Horse cars are insanely fast. This might just be thanks to the drafting tracks, but the speed on this newly redesigned car has been successful so far. Todd Gilliland, McDowell’s Front Row Motorsports teammate has led a ton of laps today as well.
Denny Hamlin is going to try and give Toyota something to be happy about. However, it is a tall task to win at this track without a teammate or manufacturer teammate pushing you along the way.
This race still has a lot of laps in it, a lot can change between now and the finish. Will we see a Ford win this race or will a Chevy or Toyota come out of nowhere to steal this one away? We know it won’t be Joey Logano, regardless of who wins.
