Joey Logano doubles down on Ross Chastain ‘jackass’ comments after Martinsville

I don’t think Joey Logano and Ross Chastain will be sharing beers any time soon. Logano is very unhappy with Chastain after today’s Martinsville race. During the race on the radio, the Team Penske driver threw around some words only to double down postrace.
If you ask Joey Logano what he thinks of Ross Chastain, he will probably tell you. Today’s word of the day from Elton Sawyer was “respect” but for Logano it was “jackass.”
“He keeps racing like a jackass every weekend,” Logano said, via Noah Lewis of TSJSports. “I keep paying the price and I’m sick paying the price.”
When asked if he had anything to say to Chastain, Logano fired back with a laugh. So, that’s a no.
“Not at the moment. Nothing good. … That’s twice in the last three weeks, so, that’s the deal, but anyways. Yeah,” Logano said, dejectedly.
Trying to look on the bright side, Joey Logano couldn’t help but wonder what could have been. A top-10 finish is great, but maybe he could have had a top-five finish if he doesn’t get spun.

“Yeah, at least we finally got a top-10 on the year. I’m sick of hearing all those things,” Logano continued. “At least we got a top-10, but it’s a little bittersweet. You know, just because I felt like, if we – you never know, right, but if we were able to have a couple of good restarts, our pit stops were really good today. We were doing a good job on pit road and maybe we could have got up there and mixed it up with them, but we just have to recover, again. Another race we have to recover.”
Joey Logano rallied to a P8 finish today. Ross Chastain was just up ahead in P6. I wonder what could have been if there had been one final restart with the 22 lining up behind the 1.
While Logano got his fair share of contact, this wasn’t the ugliest race. There were cautions, and plenty of them. However, the overall product was solid. It was far and away better than what we saw the last two nights at Martinsville.
Ultimately, Denny Hamlin won this race by a very comfortable margin. We had a great green flag run to the end and he proved to be the best driver and had the best car. Joe Gibbs Racing has snagged four of the first seven wins of the season. Can they keep it up, going to Darlington and Bristol?
