The NASCAR Playoffs this year are being filmed by a Netflix crew for a new docuseries in 2024, and Joey Logano isn’t so sure about it. Having your life, work and personal, put out there for people to see isn’t always the most comforting thought. For the driver, it is just a little much.

Joey Logano was on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio to talk about the new show. It is clear that Logano is not 100% comfortable with being filmed. He gets why NASCAR is doing it, but he’d really like there to be more say from the drivers.

“It’s okay, it’s a little annoying if I’m being real with you guys, right?” Logano said. “It’s, who wants a camera following you and a microphone listening to everything you got? And you know, the way this Netflix thing is, we don’t have editing rights. So what they get and what they use is totally up to them. So watch what you say and watch what you do because they can use it, and they can edit it in a way that makes you look completely different than the actual situation that is happening. That part is really concerning for me, not that I’m worried I’m going to say the wrong thing, it’s that they’re going to use it in a different context than what it actually was.

That’s what makes me really really nervous about the situation. At the same time, I watch docuseries all the time and I love them, about sports or whatever I think they’re great because I learn about what somebody’s industry is all about and how people prepare and whatever. So I really like that part, but being on it is not that much fun.”

Joey Logano eliminated from NASCAR Playoffs

I’m sure it didn’t help Logano’s opinion of the Netflix cameras since he was eliminated at Bristol. The 22 team came into the year as the defending champions and then, they found themselves faltering. He didn’t pick up enough points at Darlington or Bristol. Kansas was his only performance worth talking about.

A lack of stage points and a catastrophic wreck to end the first round put Logano in a spot no defending champ has ever been. The thing is, he basically repeated what he did in 2022. This time, he didn’t have enough playoff points to act as a buffer and was passed up.

Having Netflix crews around me right after getting cut from the playoffs would probably annoy me as well. If there are issues with covering his family and home life, that is one thing. As far as at the track, I think it is everything goes for these production crews, and it should be.

Joey Logano, not a fan of the docuseries crew. The good news, he might not have to worry about it that much now that he’s out of the picture. Let’s not count Logano out as a potential spoiler later on in the postseason.
