Joey Logano fires back at critics claiming he's 'lucky' to make NASCAR Championship 4
Joey Logano did not hold back on his thoughts on those who think he was “lucky” to reach the NASCAR Championship 4. On Thursday, the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series Champion appeared on NASCAR SiriusXM Radio and explained that he and his team found a way to make the title race despite not being the top driver this year.
“If we’re all supposed to be playing on an equal playing field and they pushed it too far, you’re going to get dinged for it,” Logano said. “We all push it far and however it happened, I don’t know. But they went too far and NASCAR had to put the foot down. We were next in line. Does that make us lucky? No, we were next in line for a reason and we had to race against a car that wasn’t legal. We had the spot the whole time.
“Everyone is going to have their own opinion. I’ve listened to this channel a lot. Everyone’s got their own opinion, and I love that. To me, that’s how I see it. Nobody makes it to the Championship 4 not in a deserving way. You have to get here somehow.”

Joey Logano shares more on path to Championship 4
Logano continued: “Everyone has the same opportunity. When we roll into February and Daytona, everyone has the same opportunity to get to the Championship 4. Doesn’t matter how you get there, but we all have the same opportunity to get there. We came in as maybe not the No. 1 seed, maybe not even the No. 10 seed. But we figured out how to get through the rounds, and now we’re here.”
Logano is considered “lucky” because he was eliminated from the playoffs after falling short at the Charlotte Roval last month. However, Alex Bowman received a disqualification for having a car underweight in the postrace inspection. Bowman was eliminated from the playoffs, and Logano advanced to the Round of 8. Logano then went on to win the Las Vegas playoff race to advance to the Championship 4. He’s looking to win his second title in three seasons.
