Despite running up front for most of the afternoon, Joey Logano is not happy with the speed in his Ford Mustang Dark Horse. Logano has been fighting to lead this NASCAR race at Kansas and his patience sounds like it has run out.

Joey Logano wants to win the Hollywood Casino 400 as badly as anyone out there. This is the NASCAR Playoffs, it’s when Logano and Team Penske turn things up a notch.

While fighting to get his track position back, Logano felt that his car had gone the wrong way. Here is what Logano had to say on the radio via Kelly Crandall of RACER.

Coming out of a pit stop, Joey Logano felt that his car had no speed. This was after the first part of the race had gone so well for Logano and his team. But now that things have progressed, his car is starting to lose speed.

The only good news is that a quick caution soon after these issues opened up the door to pit again. Logano and his team are going to flip the second stage and instead of pitting when it ended got the jump on others in the field.

Now we have the field split on tire strategy with one more stop to make before the end of the race, at least. How the field ends up swinging to end the race will be the determining factor in not only who wins the race but who ends up on the wrong side of the cutline as well.

Joey Logano, Team Penske fading

Despite having great long-run speed in practice, Team Penske as a whole has been having problems in the second half of the race. Logano, Blaney, and Cindric have all three had their own issues. Cindirc was even involved in a wreck after Logano’s complaints.

Logano could be in a worse position. Cindric is going to be the last driver in the standings after this round and will likely find himself in a 30+ point hole after Kansas. One wreck can take you from advancing to being cut in a moment’s notice.

There is still time for Logano and Blaney but Cindric is in trouble. For Logano, Kansas is a chance to win and advance to the Round of 8.

Joey Logano’s postseason strategy is clear – win early in the round, move on to the next round, and repeat. Having a couple of extra weeks to plan for a race or two in the next round is invaluable for a driver.
