This year, FOX will broadcast the Super Bowl, the Daytona 500, and the Indianapolis 500. Joey Logano and Josef Newgarden are excited. The two Team Penske drivers are out promoting IndyCar and NASCAR.

Joey Logano is coming off his third Cup Series championship, two in the last three years. Josef Newgarden won his second straight Indy 500 last season. Logano would love to add another Daytona win to his name and the same can be said about Newgarden at Indy.

With FOX having the media rights to the two biggest races in American motorsports, they have to promote them. So, Logano and Newgarden went down to New Orleans, Shell-Pennzoil firesuits and all, and mingled with fans.

No one knows rings better than the Captain, Roger Penske and his drivers.

This week, it is all about the Super Bowl in New Orleans. Then we can get on with the real sports season, NASCAR season. I’m only joking here, folks. I’ll be tuned into the big game and I’m sure in a month will miss football on Sundays.

Seeing Joey Logano included in this promotion is nice. FOX is making an all-out effort for IndyCar since they recently acquired the media rights for the entire season. It felt like NASCAR was being forgotten about.

However, it is clear that FOX hasn’t forgotten about the Cup Series. I also have to think that Logano is doing this as part of the new incentive program NASCAR is offering. Drivers can make money by promoting the sport and doing events like this.

Joey Logano hoping to win second Daytona 500

For Joey Logano, what else is there for him to do? He has three championships. Only Richard Petty, Dale Earnhardt, Jimmie Johnson, and Jeff Gordon have more. He has won the Daytona 500 before. He was one of the most hyped young drivers in the sport’s history. And he’s backed up that hype.

For Logano, it is now about the extracurriculars. Crown jewel race wins. Another Daytona 500 would be major. But it is the only crown jewel he has. Adding wins in the Southern 500, Brickyard 400, or the Coca-Cola 600 would be massive. It would add to his legacy as one of the best in NASCAR history.

Let’s not forget that Logano is also only 34 years old. If he keeps it up and has the desire to do it, we could see Logano in the sport for another 10 years. Denny Hamlin is 44 right now and still winning races.

So, despite Joey Logano having the championships, the race wins, and other accolades, there is more to be done. Winning those major races and seeing how long his career can go will determine where we rank Logano among the all-time greats when he finally does hang up his helmet.
