Joey Logano reveals reason for needing medical attention after Darlington

Last week, after the NASCAR Cup Series race at Darlington, Joey Logano had to go to the infield care center for minor treatment. Earlier today at Bristol, he explained what happened and why he had to receive medical attention.
Like many instances, this was dehydration. Joey Logano was very dehydrated after running all those miles at Darlington, but it was particularly bad this time around.
The culprit was a stomach bug. Logano fought through it to the end of the race, though.
“No, I had the stomach virus, that Norovirus, and I thought I was good, and then right before the race, I realized I was not good,” Logano explained to the media, via Steven Taranto of CBS Sports. “Was able to get through the race but was pretty dehydrated afterward. For one, I was throwing up all throughout the week and just couldn’t keep any fluids in, even during the race. It was not a fun experience, but saw the end of it. Was a long race.”
Joey Logano ended up finishing P13 despite his illness. That’s toughness. There have been a few drivers who have experienced dehydration issues this season. We are just starting to get to the warmer temperatures of the season, too.
While he struggled early in the year, Logano has started to steady the ship. He can’t let it fall apart this week. Bristol is yet another chance to build up points and another top-10 finish.

Joey Logano has issue in qualifying
Trouble in NASCAR Cup Series qualifying at Bristol. Kyle Busch and Joey Logano both had problems on their laps. This track is unforgiving to tires, and there’s always a danger of dipping below the apron and getting turned around for it.
Kyle Busch spun out but didn’t hit anything. Joey Logano hit the wall but didn’t spin out. Go figure.
These two drivers are going to have a lot of work to do on Sunday. Not an ideal way to start the weekend, but this is Bristol. It also looks like it is going to be a tire management race like last Spring. Lots of opportunity to move up.
Joey Logano hit the wall pretty hard with his right rear. He is going to have to get that car straightened out for tomorrow. Good news, he won’t lose many positions. Logano was P38 of 39 in qualifying. What’s the risk of losing one more spot if you can get your car perfect for the race?
