As Group B practice was winding down at Homestead-Miami Speedway, Joey Logano slid and then crashed into the inside wall. His car took heavy damage. Logano was able to get out under his own power. The NASCAR driver will likely go to a backup car before tomorrow’s 4EVER 400.

Joey Logano and his team started to run the bottom of the track. Kyle Larson had started to run it, and everyone is following Larson for the best lines. So, that’s where Logano went. While he was down there, he had 28 laps on his tires.

Things were just not lining up well for Logano. He lost grip, slid, and went right for that inside wall. This brought out the red flag and ended the last couple of minutes of practice for the morning.

Joey Logano will have to work from the back on Sunday.

Joey Logano is not in the NASCAR Playoffs. Still, he’s hoping to end his season on a high note. The 2022 champion was eliminated in the Round of 16. He just had bad luck after bad luck. Now, that bad luck has kept with him, apparently.

Starting in the rear on Sunday will put Logano at a disadvantage. At least he’s not at risk of losing his place in the playoffs.

Joey Logano looking forward to 2024

At this point, that entire No. 22 Team Penske group is likely looking forward to 2024. At least the offseason. Joey Logano is all about competing for championships. When he isn’t able to put his name in the hat, things are just a little different.

Homestead-Miami Speedway is a track that he has done well at in the past. I’m sure he’s thinking that he and his team can get through the field. Either driving or changing up pit strategy. Logano at least has the freedom to test out all of his options.

Ryan Blaney, Logano’s teammate, was really good in practice. So, Team Penske might be alright. Blaney is still competing for a NASCAR Championship. He will try to make his way to Phoenix with a win at Homestead.

As Joey Logano has already shown, this track can be difficult. Tire wear is a real thing in Miami.
