Joey Logano wins at Las Vegas, advances to Championship 4 one week after DQ controversy
Are you kidding me?! Joey Logano lucked into the Round of 8 and now he is on his way to the Championship 4 to win a third NASCAR title. Who could have seen this coming?
One week ago, Joey Logano thought his season was over. Then, Alex Bowman, was DQ’d from the Roval in postrace inspection. Now, Logano is locked into Phoenix!
Like he did in 2018 and 2022, Logano wins at Las Vegas and he’s ready to spend the next two weeks focusing on Phoenix. Amazing.
The one driver that the rest of the NASCAR Playoff field didn’t want to see in this round is Joey Logano. Team Penske and Logano are too good at Las Vegas. They have been so good in these fuel-saving races. Credit Paul Wolfe for that.
Christopher Bell led the most laps and thought he had the strategy to catch up to Logano. However, it wasn’t enough. Bell was able to get within half a second of Logano by the finish, but it wasn’t enough.
What a week for Logano and the 22 team. This time last week they believed that their season was over. Now, they are going to Phoenix and have two extra weeks to prepare for the Championship.

Joey Logano moves on, playoff drivers struggle at Vegas
While Joey Logano had an all-time performance today, coming up clutch when it matters most, other NASCAR Playoff drivers did not have a great day. In fact, more than half of the Round of 8 had at least one issue or another.
Tyler Reddick, Chase Elliott, and Ryan Blaney were involved in an early incident on the track. Reddick was out, Elliott and Blaney were damaged heavily in the process. That wreck changed everything.
Kyle Larson and Denny Hamlin suffered from bad pit stops. So, five drivers in the NASCAR Playoffs were at least one lap down at one point or another during this race. Throughout it all, Logano kept moving and avoided problems.
When it became clear this would be a fuel mileage race, Christopher Bell had to be perfect and then hope for some luck. Joey Logano had the advantage, racing up front and waiting for Bell to come from behind. There weren’t enough laps for Bell to catch up, and Logano is walking away the big winner.
